Sourdough Bread Baking

*Delivery Date:

Sourdough is one of the most ancient forms of bread making, and also the most satisfying! Using a starter to replace yeast in the recipes, this gives the unmistakable tang and texture to sourdough breads. In this class you will be learning how to make a classic white sourdough loaf, cheese and olive rye sourdough and sweet sourdough muffins using both a rye starters and white starter. In addition to your doughs, we will also be making your own starter to take home and 'feed' along with a schedule to keep it healthy!

Skills learnt include:

  • bread making theory and troubleshooting
  • baking in domestic ovens and injecting steam
  • working with starter- making your own and feeding schedules
  • shaping free form doughs
  • multiple kneading methods by hand and also on machines

You will leave with all the breads made in class, your own starter and recipes from the day to practice at home! No previous experience is required- this class is suitable for both beginners and confident bakers alike.

Please note:

The baked goodies as described above may change from time to time due to availability and seasonality of ingredients.

From 1st September 2016 we will be moving our class premises to 97 North Street, Clapham Old Town, SW4 OHF, please be aware of this when making your booking. If you have any questions regarding this please email us at hello@eatandmess.co.uk
